The books and talks are entertaining, even mesmerizing, but the work of our practice is still work, and not so entertaining. In your present difficulty, the only advice I have is to be careful not to exchange one story (bleak) for another story (bliss). That it is to say, when it is time to go to work, get help, make a change, don't be afraid to take appropriate action. Appropriate action is enlightened living, and you always know what needs to be done. I just don’t know.
